ABOUT US

Who We Are

RAY Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Competition team founded to bring together students who want to grow in engineering, innovation, leadership and community impact.

We are more than a robotics team. We are a family that learns, builds, solves problems and grows together. Every season we take on a new challenge: we design a robot from scratch, write the code and take the stage. Along the way we gain not only technical skills but also real-life experience in time management, teamwork and making decisions under pressure.

Born from the dream of two students passionate about STEM and robotics, RAY Robotics aims to transform the culture of science and technology at our school. We know that learning is not just theory; it grows stronger through building, experimenting and having fun. As a rookie team, we are building a culture founded on curiosity, discipline, inclusion and continuous improvement. We believe great ideas can come from anyone.

DISCIPLINES

Interdisciplinary Work

At RAY Robotics, every student becomes part of a real engineering project. By specializing in different fields we gain both technical and social skills. Our team is organized into seven core sub-teams, each an essential part of the competition season:

Mechanical Design

We design and build the robot’s physical structure, chassis, mechanisms and drive systems. We model in CAD software and bring parts to life with manufacturing methods such as 3D printing and CNC. Building a robot from scratch for a new game every season takes our creative engineering skills to the next level.

Software Development

We code the robot’s brain. We work in Java and Python on autonomous modes, driver controls, computer vision and data analysis. Through sensor integration and algorithm optimization, we make our robot smart and efficient.

Electronics

We work on circuit design, wiring, power distribution and sensor integration. We build the robot’s entire electrical system safely and efficiently, and make sure it runs reliably on the field.

CAD & Simulation

With professional software such as Fusion 360 and SolidWorks, we model the robot virtually, run simulations and catch design errors before manufacturing. We prepare technical drawings for every part to guide production.

Media & Communications

We tell our team’s story. Working in photography, video, social media, graphic design and presentations, we bring our brand and message to the right audiences.

Strategy & Analysis

We make data-driven decisions on scouting, match strategy and alliance selection. We use statistical models and simulation tools to optimize on-field performance.

Outreach & Community

To spread STEM culture, we run workshops in schools, lead social responsibility projects and introduce young students to science. We aim to make a difference with projects that touch our community.

VISION & MISSION

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower students through robotics and STEM and to create a productive environment where they can discover their potential. Our greatest goal is not only to succeed in competitions but to inspire the engineers, entrepreneurs and leaders of the future.

Hands-on Experience

By taking an active role in robot design, software, electronics, CAD, media and outreach, we learn to solve real-world problems. Each season, during an intense six-week “build season”, we build a robot from scratch and gain experience in project management, budgeting and team coordination.

Holistic Growth

Beyond technical knowledge, we develop problem-solving, leadership, presentation and creative-thinking skills. FRC is not just a competition; it is a platform where students discover themselves, are not afraid to make mistakes and learn from every experience.

Community Impact

Spreading STEM culture, introducing young students to science, and organizing workshops and social responsibility projects are among our top priorities. We keep inspiring others by taking an active role in schools, science fairs and community events.

At RAY Robotics, we believe every curious student who is open to growth can achieve great things.

TEAM CULTURE

Our Founding Story

RAY Robotics was founded by two students passionate about STEM and robotics, with the dream of spreading a culture of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics at their school. Our founders realized that learning is not just theory; it grows stronger through building, experimenting and having fun.

Rookie Spirit

As a new team, we are building everything from scratch. That means unlimited creativity and freedom to learn.

Inclusion

Every student’s contribution matters. Different talents, different perspectives and a shared goal make us strong.

Continuous Improvement

Every season we aim to do better than the last. We learn from mistakes and celebrate successes.

FIRST ROBOTICS

What Is FRC?

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international STEM competition in which high school students from around the world design, build and compete with a robot built from scratch in six weeks. Each season brings a new game and new rules; teams take the stage by combining engineering, strategy and teamwork.

More than 3,800 teams in over 100 countries take part in this exciting competition. FRC is more than a robotics contest; it is a unique platform that offers students real engineering experience, mentorship and a global community.

What Does FRC Include?

  1. 01Build Season: design, build and test a robot in six weeks
  2. 02Regionals: represent your team at regional competitions
  3. 03Championships: make your way to the world championship
  4. 04Awards: win awards for engineering, design and outreach

THE SEASON

How Does a Season Unfold?

Every FRC season begins with the new game revealed in January and continues with regional competitions. As a team, we manage this intense and exciting journey in seven stages:

  1. Kickoff

The game is revealed and the team gathers

  2. Design

    Mechanical and software planning

  3. Build

The robot is manufactured and assembled

  4. Test

    Systems are tested and optimized

  5. Regionals

    Competing at regional events

  6. Awards

    Award ceremonies and presentations

  7. Outreach

    Community projects and STEM events

Each stage builds on the one before it. From Kickoff onward, during the six-week “build season”, the mechanical, software, electronics and media teams work in parallel. Once our robot has been tested and optimized, it takes the stage at regional competitions (Regionals), and we wrap up the season with award ceremonies and outreach events. Throughout this process we keep improving our time management, team coordination and flexible thinking.

EVENTS

Our Events

Events we organize and take part in to spread STEM culture.

Girls in STEM

Gazi Girls in STEM is an event that aims to connect female students with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The program, registration and all details are on the event page.

INSPIRATION

Leaders of the Future

“We believe great ideas can come from anyone. When curiosity, discipline and passion come together, there are no limits.”

At RAY Robotics, we believe every curious student who is open to growth can achieve great things. Everyone who joins our team doesn’t just build a robot — they build themselves. The FRC experience gives students an edge in university applications, career planning and personal growth.

Think Creatively

Every problem is a chance for a new solution. We learn to think outside the box.

Succeed Together

We grow as a team, not alone. Every member is essential.

Innovate

We are not satisfied with standard solutions. Every season we aim higher.
